Elden Ring NPC Quest Guide
Elden Ring's quests are notoriously easy to miss. One wrong step and an entire questline becomes permanently locked. This guide ensures you complete every major NPC quest.
Ranni's Questline (Age of Stars Ending)
Step 1: Meet Ranni at Church of Elleh at night (after getting Torrent). Receive Spirit Calling Bell.
Step 2: Reach Ranni's Rise in Caria Manor (Liurnia, northwest). Enter her service.
Step 3: Meet Blaidd in Siofra River. Then speak to Seluvis, then Sellen at Waypoint Ruins.
Step 4: Defeat Starscourge Radahn. A star falls, opening a crater in Mistwood.
Step 5: Enter Nokron, Eternal City through the crater. Find the Fingerslayer Blade.
Step 6: Return to Ranni. She gives you the Carian Inverted Statue.
Step 7: Use the statue at Carian Study Hall. Reach the Divine Tower of Liurnia. Obtain the Cursemark of Death.
Step 8: Travel through Renna's Rise teleporter to Ainsel River Main. Collect the Miniature Ranni doll. Talk to it repeatedly at a Site of Grace.
Step 9: Defeat the Baleful Shadow. Receive the Discarded Palace Key.
Step 10: Open the chest in Rennala's boss room. Obtain the Dark Moon Ring.
Step 11: Go through Lake of Rot, defeat Astel. Take the elevator to Moonlight Altar.
Step 12: Enter the Cathedral of Manus Celes. Go down the hole. Put the ring on Ranni's finger.
Reward: Dark Moon Greatsword, Age of Stars ending option
⚠️ Missable point: If you give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade before completing Seluvis's questline, he dies and his quest locks.
Fia's Questline
- Meet Fia in Roundtable Hold (hug her, use the Baldachin's Blessing)
- Find D, Hunter of the Dead. Exhaust his dialogue.
- After reaching Altus Plateau, Fia asks about the Weathered Dagger. Give it to D.
- After acquiring both halves of the Haligtree Medallion, D's brother kills Fia
- OR: Fight Fia's Champions in Deeproot Depths. Give her the Cursemark of Death.
- Defeat Lichdragon Fortissax.
- Reward: Mending Rune of the Death-Prince (alternate ending)
Millicent's Questline
- Find Millicent at Church of the Plague (Caelid). Give her the Unalloyed Gold Needle (from Commander O'Neil in Aeonia Swamp).
- After she moves, find her at: Erdtree-Gazing Hill → Shaded Castle (Valkyrie's Prosthesis) → Mountaintops of the Giants (Ancient Snow Valley Ruins) → Prayer Room (Elphael) → Drainage Channel.
- At the end: Help Millicent (invade her sisters) for Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. OR Challenge Millicent for Millicent's Prosthesis.
- Reward: Miquella's Needle (cures Frenzied Flame), Unalloyed Gold Needle (use on Malenia's flower for Miquella's Needle + Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone)
Alexander the Iron Fist Questline
- Limgrave: Free him from the ground (heavy attack)
- Gael Tunnel: Speak to him
- Radahn Festival: Summon for the fight
- Liurnia (near Carian Study Hall): Oil pot to free him, then heavy attack
- Mountaintops (near volcano): Exhaust dialogue
- Crumbling Farum Azula: Final duel. Win for Alexander's Innards + Shard of Alexander talisman. ⚠️ Missable: If you kill Rykard before talking to Alexander at the volcano, he can skip to Mountaintops.
